Zlin is the largest administrative district in the Zlin Region by population, home to about 17% of the region's residents. By area it is the fifth-largest, with a population density of 285 residents per km², the second-highest in the region. Urban population here makes up the highest share in the region, at just under 80%, with roughly three-quarters of the district's residents living directly in the regional capital, Zlin.
Zlin is also the region's cultural heart — the Zlin Municipal Theatre ranks among the most-visited theaters in the entire region.
